On June 10 and 11 in Lyon, we are organizing a national meeting of the major players in phonon physics in complex media. The aim is to discuss a project for structuring the community on a national scale. There are many teams working in this field, with a high national and international profile. We believe that the time has come to structure ourselves, to further increase this visibility and create a close-knit community that can interact through future calls for projects, while training the next generation of students and future researchers in the field. In particular, we'd like to discuss the creation of a GDR that could be submitted to the CNRS during the Autumn sessions, focusing on phonons in complex media (nano, nanostructured, bio, with different spectroscopy techniques).

During these days, we will welcome representatives from all the teams involved in this field. However, to facilitate discussions, we'll be asking just one representative per team to give a 20-minute presentation of his or her team's phonon research activities.

Following the presentations, a round table will be organized to discuss the GDR project, and everyone's involvement and expectations.
